I hope all those that celebrate today as the birth of Christ, had a wonderful day. However, that is just a hope, I know that not all of us are so lucky to have a peaceful & blessed day. Today is always a very sad day for me, as it is the day that I lost someone who I loved very much, and that was my grandpa. He was such a great person, and loved me for me, which is not true for most people I know, almost everyone in my life only cares about me when they need something, but Grandpa was never like that at all. He is the reason that I kept my sanity for years living in a foster home, he always told me to keep my head up no matter what and it was my parents’ loss that they were never good enough parents for me. He always reminded me of the good in the world, no matter how dark it seemed. I keep those things he taught me and I pass them on to my little girl.

Now there are a lot of families out there who are struggling, in this bleak economic time, to those parents who feel ashamed or depressed because they could not get their children much, remember this… This holiday is not about us, it is about something bigger and to give thanks for that. Children are very resilient and you would be surprised at just how many children could care less if they got one present or 20…they got something from the heart and that’s all that matters So don’t let it get you down, if you are tight on money this year!

Then there are those in this world who have no home, no warm fire in the cold and no cool air in the heat. You would think they would be the one’s who are the least grateful for the holiday, but it will surprise you the faith and love that comes from those who have close to nothing.

So no matter what family you fall in and whether your holiday was happy or sad, I would love to wish you the warmest of holiday greetings and pray for the new year to be one that will turn out better than the last!!
